In 1271, Marco Polo set off from Venice to the East on a journey that changed the world. This is undoubtedly the most famous story about Venice.
However, for us, a more significant story is one about a culinary journey that took place several centuries later.
Back in 1913, a prominent Zemun merchant, Aleksandar Štrajher, founded the Venecija restaurant, right next to the port captaincy, where riverboats would dock. Not long after its founding, the place became so popular that even the most well-known Belgraders of the time would come by boat to enjoy fish soup and a good time at Venecija.
Today, more than a century later, fully aware of the significance and beauty of the location, a new story begins, one that brings back the old charm and magic. Its main characters are the flavors, specialties, unique ambiance, and the view of the most beautiful part of the Danube.
In the heart of the Zemun Quay, a carnival of true specialties takes place every day, celebrating a wide variety of flavors. The authentic capital of enjoyment is, of course, Venecija, a restaurant known for its delicious food for over a century. The tradition is still present, but now with a completely new menu and ambiance that magically combines the beauty of magnificent Venice and the impressive Danube. Those behind the concept of this restaurant didn't believe in limits, as enjoyment knows none. Every guest will have the unique opportunity to watch a Venetian gondola and Danube swans at the same time, just one of the magical stories a visit to this restaurant brings.
